27. all that I am, all that I have

what does God want
from you and from me?
what can you give to The One
who has everything a-plenty?

he doesn't want your religious attendance
not your riches or money
not the length of time reading the Bible
not your gifts to charity

to create the first step in the relationship
you must accept God as your Lord and Savior
contrary to what many believe,
the next step is not rules, regulations, orders.

Surrender is what He wants
Offer yourselves as a living sacrifice
Live God's way, forget your own way
Ask Him to run your life

what God really wants from you
is none other than YOU
all that you are, all that you have
no pretenses, just what is true.

Romans 12 1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.

  2. Yes, sister!
I have been listening to the sermons, but had not found a chance to sit down and compose my verses. I'm glad the holidays are over - :)

    Happy New Year!

  3. I came back. Hehehe. This topic got me into thinking why it took me and many others so long and so hard to figure out what God wants from us. Certainly not the practice of religion. That's too easy. Not the amount of knowledge we have of the Scriptures even. And, yes, it is shocking, not even our acts of kindness.

This is also why people who hear of this message get angry and say to the bearer of the message, "You think you're so great taking that holier than thou attitude." That's actually what I thought of Christians back then. It was so frustrating to hear that I don't qualify as Godly even if I go to church, pray, do kind acts, don't harm other people, etc.

What turned me off even more was seeing Christians worship God in abandonment and give up certain lifestyles. I used to call Christians "fanatics." I said I don't want to be one.

It was only when I understood, not with my head, but with my heart that it is a total surrender of ourselves and everything we have to the One who created us and owns us and gave up His life for us despite ourselves that I caved in. It is all about falling deeply in love with Jesus.

I just pray that everyone reading this message for the first time will read it with an open heart and let the Holy Spirit speak to his/her heart. In Jesus' name, amen.

  5. I appreciate your input here, sister. In fact, I welcome it. One reason I did this blog is for this to serve as my "notes" from the podcasts I listened to. With your input, it is like a reinforcement of the lessons learned. Thank you very much for that.

    >:D<

  6. Thank YOU for your blog. You really are using your gift for prose to glorify God. I love especially that you have now included Bible verses in your blog. It makes a whole world of difference to have the Word back up your words.

Secret natin ito kay T ha? (as if T would not get to read this) I am shy to make comments on her new blog. Hindi kasi sya nag-iisa don. Alam mo naman ako mahiyain di nga lang halata masyado. Hahaha.

  7. I'm late for the party. This piece really resonated with me. Just like what Joy said...hey wait a minute I just saw what Joy said in the comment above - Joy, don't be shy. Comments are welcome and encouraged. Those ladies are sisters in Christ and you will love them!
Anyway, yes, exactly what Joy said in her first comment. That's why I'm very careful when I share things with my relatives who are staunch Catholics. I was like that before din kasi. But we have to keep planting those seeds so the Holy Spirit can work in their hearts.
    Keep plugging away, sister!
